Random Acts - Day 20

Today we went to Target to...

You'd be surprised how difficult it was to get people to actually accept the candy canes. It was a bit ridiculous actually and Brennan was more than a little discouraged when they'd say no.

How could you say no to a free candy cane from these two??

I think people thought he was selling them so he finally started saying "Merry Christmas! Would you like a candy cane? They're free, I'm not selling them!" Then I'd have to follow it up with the fact that we were just trying to do something kind by sharing candy canes. Some people found this super sweet and really engaged the kids others were still kind of weird. I don't know that I'll keep this one on the calendar for next year. It seemed like fun and the kids were excited but every time they'd get turned down they'd get a little more upset. We'll stick to handing out flowers only next year. Those were well received by all!!

Luckily we got a chance to redeem today's act of kindness when we rode with Santa and the firemen through the streets of Monrovia on his sleigh. The kids were able to toss candy canes to kiddos while we drove!

Santa was super cool. Bren's been skeptical of Santa and he's only 4! But man this kid! He's got questions about his questions! He never once doubted this Santa and they engaged in several conversations while were there! Yay for good Santa's that are prepared for inquisitive little boys!

Earlier this week Santa and the firemen came by our street so they got some candy canes of their own!

Anxiously awaiting Santa with the neighbor kids.

It was super windy on Tuesday when he came by our place so instead of Santa riding in his special chair on top of the fire truck he rode inside to keep warm!

Tomorrow I'll be heading to the Red Cross to...

It'll be my first time...wish me luck!
